YANG Huanming is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Chinese Academy of Medical Science (CAMS), and a director of BGI. He is also a professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC), and teaching in many other universities. Furthermore, Yang is the former vice-President of the Genetics Society of China and Chinese Society of Biotechnology, President of the Chinese Society for Urban Science Research, and one of co-founders of Beijing Institute of Genomics, CAS (2007), and BGI-genomics (2002).
Yang has been working on genetics/genomics and relevant fields for many years and has been engaged in both research and teaching for nearly half a century. Yang and his BGI team, together with collaborators all over the world, have made significant contributions to the International Human Genome Project (HGP, 1999-2003), the International HapMap Project (HapMap, 2002-2006), International 1000 Genomes Project (G1K, 2008-2012), the International Cancer Genome Project (ICGP, 2008-2010), the international collaborations on Yeast Genome Redesign and Synthesis (Sc2.0, 2011-2017), the Earth Biogenome Project (EBP,2017- ), and other human omics research, as well as sequencing and analyzing genomes of many other animals, plants, and microorganisms, with more than 660 publications in the internationally prestigious journals, including more than 200 in Cell, Science, Nature, and their sub-journals, and many others, with an H-index=130.
Yang has been elected as a member of European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), and The African Academy of Sciences (AAS), an international/foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Germany, India, Ukraine, the United States, and the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters.

杨焕明：中国科学院院士，中国医学科学院学部委员，中国科学院大学及中国协和医科大学教授，中国遗传学会和中国生物工程学会资深副理事长，中国城市科学研究会理事长，中国科学院北京基因组研究所和华大基因联合创始人。
杨焕明多年从事基因组学的科研和教学工作。他和他的华大团队及全球合作者一起，先后参与了 “国际人类基因组计划”、 “国际人类单体型图计划”、“国际千人基因组计划”、 “国际癌症基因组计划”、“国际酵母基因组重新设计和合成计划”和“地球生物基因组计划”等国际合作项目并担任协调组成员，此外还担任水稻、家猪、家鸡、家蚕、熊猫以及SARS病毒等多项动植物、微生物的基因组计划。杨焕明已在国际学术杂志上发表论文660多篇，其中200余篇发表于Cell、Science和Nature及其系列杂志上，H-index=130。
杨焕明还是欧洲分子生物学组织、发展中国家科学院和非洲科学院成员，同时是丹麦、德国、印度、乌克兰和美国等国家科学院的国际/外籍院士。
